Questions and Answers, guides and FAQsCategory: B&O specific questionsCan I use an AV receiver with my Beolab speakers to get surround sound? (Using pre-out sockets)
steve Staff asked 9 years ago

Yes! But this answer applies ONLY if your receiver has PRE-OUT sockets. I would suggest looking at the latest receivers from Denon, Yamaha or Onkyo, as these companies produce some AV receivers within their ranges which have audio pre-out sockets for easy connection of Beolab speakers for a Dolby surround sound setup.

You can connect stereo Beolab speakers (eg. Beolabs 4000, 6000, 8000, etc) to one of these processors using our cables. Which cables do I need?

  • For speakers with RCA/ Phono Line input socket types:
  • Beolab Speaker Line In Cables
  • Suitable for the following models:
    • Beolab 1
    • Beolab 5
    • Beolab 3000
    • Beolab 4000 mk.1
    • Beolab 4500
    • Beolab 5000
    • Beolab 6000
    • Beolab 8000
    • Beolab Penta
    • It may also be used with older BeoLab speakers that have displays (such as Beolab 3000, 4500, 5000 and Penta), but the displays will not function.

  • For speakers with 8 pin DIN Powerlink Line input socket types:
  • Beolab Speaker Line In Cables
  • Suitable for the following models:
    • Beolab 3
    • Beolab 4000 mk 2
    • Beolab 6002
    • Beolab 8002
    • Beolab 9
    • Beolab 12 (12-1 / 12-2 / 12-3) — Please note, clip-on RJ45 adapters required!

NOTE: Beolab 2 Subwoofer or Centre Speaker bars

  • If you have a Beolab 2 subwoofer, or a Beolab 7-x/ Beolab 10 dedicated centre speakers, these each need a powered cable to generate the trigger signals that would normally be sent from a B&O television Powered Trigger Cable
